Hoy les traigo mi primera participación en un Blog Tour, y es de la bella novela How We Deal With Gravity de Ginger Scott, de la cual ya hice una reseña y se las recomendé AQUÍ.
En esta ocasión me tocó hacerle una pequeña entrevista a la autora, así que se las comparto, espero y la disfruten tanto como yo, la entrevista se las dejo en inglés y español. Todas las preguntas fueron hechas y traducidas por mí, las cuales la autora fue super linda en contestar.

SINOPSIS

Cuando su hijo Max fue diagnosticado con autismo, la vida de Avery Abbot cambió para siempre. Su esposo se fue, y sus propios sueños se convirtieron en una fantasía distante—siempre después de pelear batallas interminables para asegurarse que Max tuviera una oportunidad, amor y respeto. ENTREVISTA/ INTERVIEW

1.-What inspire o motive you to write this beautiful story?/ ¿Qué te inspiró o motivó a escribir esta bella historia?

I have volunteered with an autism organization as a writer for years. I tell the stories of families affected by the diagnosis of autism, and they are the most amazing people I have met. I've always been inspired by their strength, and I wanted to weave a story that would truly showcase their spirit but also stay true to a love story. There is a lot of hope that comes with an autism diagnosis--hope for therapies, cures, a future. But there's also a lot of hope involved in love--hope to feel your heart beat, to find that one person who gets it all. And I wanted to lay out a story that wove those two together, because I truly believe you need one to fight for the other. Hope and love--that's what it's all about.

He sido voluntaria con organizaciones de autismo como escritora por años. Cuento las historias de las familias afectadas por el diagnostico de autismo, y son las personas más increíbles que he conocido. Siempre he estado inspirada por su fortaleza, y quise crear una historia que realmente mostrara su espíritu pero también ser fiel a la historia de amor. Hay mucha esperanza que llega con el diagnostico de autismo—esperanza por las terapias, curas, un futuro. Pero también hay mucha esperanza en el amor—esperanza de sentir a tu corazón latir, encontrar esa persona que lo entiende todo. 2.-I think this is a great story, but tell us five things about this story that will appeal to the readers?/ Creo que es una historia increíble, pero, ¿dinos cinco cosas sobre esta historia que atraerá a los lectores?

-I think readers will really fall for Mason -- not only because of his swoon-worthy swagger, but because of the way he grows throughout the story and the relationship he builds with Max. Mason also comes with that uber-sexy musician thing, and being that I'm an Arizona girl, he's a little bit country and a little bit rock and blues. Picture blue jeans, chain hanging from the back pocket, two days of stubble, piercing eyes and a voice from heaven in a country bar with lots of dancing and you've got Mason Street on a Friday night.

Creo que los lectores realmente van a morirse por Mason—no solo por su contoneo digno de desmayarse, pero por la manera en la que crece durante la historia y la relación que construye con Max. - As much as this is a love story, it's also a story about celebrating people because of their differences. The scenes with Max, the child with autism, are based on real experiences I've witnessed, been told or have had family experience. And I think there is a certain amount of understanding that comes out of those scenes for the reader.

- Music is an enormous influence for How We Deal With Gravity. I have eclectic tastes, and I grew up on classic rock, oldies, and REAL country--I'm talking Cash and Willie Nelson. Oh, and really bluesy R&B, like Otis Redding. That vibe is a huge part of the story, and it goes right to the root of Mason Street.

La música es una enorme influencia para How We Deal With Gravity. Tengo gustos eclécticos, y crecí con rock clásico, oldies, y country REAL—estoy hablando de Cash y Willie Nelson. Oh, y verdadero R&B, como Otis Redding. Esa vibra es una enorme parte de la historia, y va directo a los orígenes de Mason Street.

- There's a good dose of steam. I love writing first kisses -- my favorite thing to write, truly. This one is one of my favorites.

- I also like to weave in a good cry, so fair warning--there is a good chance you'll need a tissue or two.

3.-The personal growth of the main characters during the book, was really good, it is something we can see in your previous novels?/ El crecimiento personal de los personajes principales a través del libro, fue realmente bueno, ¿Es algo que podemos ver en tus novelas anteriores?

Yes. I try to write my characters to be real--sometimes painfully so. And sometimes their faults are raw. Prince charming doesn't always get it right, but when he figures it out, it makes it that much sweeter. With my Waiting series, I followed my hero through high school into college, and when he was a teenager, he was very real--self-centered, rude at times, arrogant and daft. But I think that's what makes his personal growth into the next book so damn satisfying. Readers get to watch him become a man, a man worthy of the girl he loves. And as young women, sometimes we love the screwed up ones, even fully aware of their faults. I really try to show that type of honesty with all of my characters.

Sí. Trato de escribir que mis personajes sean reales —a veces, también dolorosos. Y a veces sus faltas son crudas. El príncipe encantado no siempre lo hace bien, pero cuando lo entiende, lo hace mucho más dulce. Con mi serie Waiting, seguí a mi héroe por la escuela secundaria hasta la universidad, y cuando era un adolescente, era muy real—egocéntrico, grosero a veces, arrogante y tonto. Pero creo que eso es lo que hace a su crecimiento personal en el siguiente libro tan satisfactorio. Los lectores tienen la oportunidad de mirarlo convertirse en un hombre, un hombre merecedor de la chica que ama. Y las jóvenes mujeres, a veces amamos a los que están jodidos, inclusive completamente consciente de sus defectos. Realmente trato de mostrar un tipo de honestidad con todos mis personajes.

4.-I loved the way you present Max illness, without take advantage of it, but how did you come out with the interest of Max with astronomy?/ Me encantó la manera en la que presentaste la enfermedad de Max, sin tomar ventaja de ello, ¿como se te ocurrió el interés de Max por la Astronomía?

As I mentioned before, I've worked with, interviewed and am close with many young adults and adults with autism, and many of them are simply brilliant. For a few, science has always been almost an obsession, and it was just something that I knew I could weave into Max and write with authority and understanding. I thought of Max and the title, How We Deal With Gravity just popped into my head. The story was born from that and it just flowed naturally.

Como ya mencioné anteriormente, he trabajado, entrevistado y soy cercana con muchos jóvenes adultos y adultos con autismo, y la mayoría son simplemente brillantes. Para unos pocos, la ciencia siempre ha sido casi una obsesión, y fue algo que supe que podía entrelazar con Max y escribir con autoridad y entendimiento. Pensé en Max y el titulo, How We Deal With Gravity solo apareció en mi cabeza. La historia nació de eso y solo fluyó naturalmente.

5.-I really liked the feeling around Dusty´s is amazing, what was the main purpose of this bar? It was inspired in a real bar? If it is, I want to be there!/ De verdad me gustó el sentimiento alrededor de Dusty´s, es increible, ¿cual fue el propósito principal de este bar? ¿Fue inspirado en un bar real? Si es así ¡quiero estar ahí!

Thank you so much! I love Dusty's too. It's not a real bar, but Cave Creek is a real town in Arizona, and the main drag through town is cool as hell! It's very western and desert, with cool biker and country bars dotting both sides of the roads. A lot of local bands play on the weekends and I've seen a few shows that could rival a Mason Street Band show. When it came to creating Dusty's, I drew inspiration from a place in Phoenix that has long since closed. It was called Mr. Lucky's, and people like Waylon Jennings used to play there. It was boarded up long before I could enjoy it, but I always imagined it to be a lot like Dusty's.

¡Muchas gracias! También amo a Dusty´s. No es un bar real, pero Cave Creek en una ciudad real en Arizona, y la calle principal de la ciudad ¡es bastante increíble! Es muy western y desértico, con motociclistas geniales y bares country esparcidos en ambos lados del camino.
